INSURANCE FRAUD JOKE OF THE DAY

A lawyer and an engineer were fishing in the Caribbean. The lawyer said, “I’m here because my house burned down, and everything I owned was destroyed by the fire. The insurance company paid for everything.”

That’s quite a coincidence,” said the engineer. “I’m here because my house and all my belongings were destroyed by a flood, and my insurance company also paid for everything.”

The lawyer thought for a moment, but was puzzled. Finally he asked the engineer, “How do you start a flood?”

Claimant was riding on our insured’s roller coaster. She fell off and suffered several fractures. She claimed that the cause of her fall was due to the negligence of our insured. We subpoenaed all pictures she took at the park the day of the incident and there were selfies of her on the ride. We were able to determine that she posed in such a way that she was actually standing on the ride, which caused the fall. We denied the claim.

TOO MUCH COCONUT WATER CAN BE DANGEROUS

We received a medical claim for a patient that was playing tennis on a hot day. Over a period of a few hours he drank eight 11 ounce bottles of coconut water to help re-hydrate himself. Instead he became dizzy and lost consciousness.

He was taken to the Emergency Room via ambulance. It was discovered his blood pressure and heart rate were very low. His body had too much potassium which caused all of the problems. Coconut water is loaded with potassium and too much potassium in your system can cause cardiac arrest.

So while limited amounts of coconut water is good for you be cautious not too drink too much !

It Was the Dog’s Fault!

Claimant was working with our insured in his garage with power tools. Somehow, Claimant became seriously injured by an electric saw. Our insured claimed that Claimant knew better than to put his hand in the way of the saw. But Claimant claimed that our insured’s dog jumped on him, pushing him into the saw. We had denied the claim and then learned there was a security video taken by our insured.  After viewing it, it was quite clear that our insured’s dog was loose and jumped on Claimant as he said, pushing him into the saw. We paid the claim.

Chemo Claim

Claimant was sitting in a restaurant when a car hit the building, causing injury to seven people dining inside. We thought we’d pay the entire medical bill under no fault, but we were surprised at the bills submitted. Most of them were for cancer treatment. Claimant developed thyroid cancer shortly after the accident and said it was related. We denied benefits because we didn’t believe there was causation to the motor vehicle accident. We won at arbitration. We ended up paying less than $5,000 on the claim.

Bubble Bath

Claimant worked out of her home and made a workers compensation claim from a slip and fall in her bathtub! We denied the claim, because clearly she was not working at the time. However, Claimant appealed. She claims she was talking to a client on speaker phone while the phone was sitting on the toilet lid. She had been taking a bubble bath, got out and slipped, fracturing her elbow. We checked with the client and he said they were talking, when he heard a crash. She said she slipped and fell, but he hadn’t known Claimant was taking a bath. The phone records confirmed this and so the claim was paid. We later heard that Claimant was fired for taking a bath during work hours and while talking on the phone with a client.

DRIVING AT DUSK

Today we received a sad auto claim. Our policy holder was driving at dusk. She said she just pulled out of her driveway and was driving slowly through her neighbor hood. Cars were parked on both sides of the street. Her windshield was extremely dirty so she hit the windshield wipers and the spray for a quick clean.

Within a split second a kid darted in front of her on a bicycle. She hit him before she even saw him. He flew over a parked car and onto a yard.

He has a broken leg and cuts and bruises but luckily she was going slow and did not kill him. Be careful at dusk as it is hard to see!!!!

GATORS ATTACK CAR and INSURED HAS PHONE VIDEO

Today I received an auto claim for property damage. Apparently our client was parked in the low country. And was going to walk out to go fishing with waders on near his car.

He said he arrived back to his car and a ALLIGATOR was attacking his car bumper and tires. He immediately got out his cell phone and video taped it. It is a great video. It seems the reflection of the silver around the bumper was reflecting off the sun and into the gators glare and he did not like it. I would have never believed it if I did not see if for myself. That gator was mad and our client had to scare him off and stand in a way to get the glare to stop to get him to stop biting the car.

Wish I could upload the video its a good one!!!!
